First Union 400
Top 5 finishers.....

The 1993 First Union 400 had 12 lead changes between 8 drivers. Starting from the 9th position, Rusty Wallace went on to lead 120 laps and got the scissor-lift ride to the top of an infield building where victory lane was, and still is today. Kyle Petty finished second, 1.66 seconds behind. Kenny Schrader recorded his best finish at NWS by coming in 3rd. 4th and 5th place went to Davey Allison and Darrell Waltrip, respectively. Pole sitter Brett Bodine (117.017 mph) finished 17th, 4 laps off the pace. 38 laps were run under caution—the yellow flag waved 4 times.
The ’93 spring race would be a bittersweet one. It gave the fans a chance to say hello to two future Winston Cup Champions, Bobby Labonte and Jeff Gordon. Unfortunately, the fans also saw Davey Allison run his last NWS race. Allison would later lose his life weeks later as a result of a helicopter crash. Before his racing career and life ended abruptly, Allison gave the North Wilkesboro fans a win at the speedway in 1992.
